Adventures in the Sea and Sky will set sail on a swashbuckling scientific journey through history. We’ll track down seafarers and skydivers, astronauts and astronomers, pirates and pilots in a fast-forward trip through days of yesteryear. Along the way, tales of daring figures and devilish fiends will delight all ages.
The adventure begins on the sea. In your history studies, you’ll trace the chronicles of man’s journeys by sea and the vessels he sailed. The journey will take you aboard clinker- built Viking warships and graceful, speedy clipper ships. At the same time, you’ll also dive into science, studying ocean habitats, and get to know the strange creatures that call it home. Stories of piracy and plunder, bravery and perseverance will fire the imagination.
Next, you’ll take off into the skies, then space. Great adventures await as you trace the story of those who pioneered flight, made it a reality and developed the stunning aircraft and spaceships we see (and don’t see) today! In your science studies you’ll learn all about the weather of our atmosphere, and travel throughout our universe.
Hands-on activities and learning opportunities are integral to the program. Your instructor’s guide has weekly ideas, but in addition, many of your books will help you learn the ways of sailors, pilots, astronauts, explorers and scientists of all kinds. |
